while reading the passage for the odb of today, it is the rather known verse of Psalm 8:
we always use this to say how small we are and how unworthy we are, and yet God loves us and takes us seriously. But often we stay at verse 5, which says where we are positioned - "a little lower than the heavenly beings"
while i don't think this is wrong or what, but today i kind of "suddenly" noticed the last part of verse 5 - "crowned him with glory and honor". It appears to me that both parts are mentioned here by David, the author of Psalm 8. The last part described that we are crowned with glory and honor. Normal we will explain this verse in a way that though we are placed lower than heavenly beings (whatever that is), we still have the glory and honor from God. But today i think, hey, no matter where i am placed, lower or higher, as long as i am being seen as important (this is where the glory and honor part comes in) i am important!
We usually do mind a lot where we are positioned. Try in a school class, where students will somehow prefer a place where people will noticed his existance. We need attention, and moreover, recognition! being comparable with others, we often envy those higher than us, while hoping that we can one day be higher too.
Actually all that matters is not on the position, but the true acceptance and recognition we get from our love ones. God knew this - hence He crowned us with glory and honor, to let us know we are loved and accepted. The position? well, we must be placed somewhere, but this will not be the reason how He will treat us.
The world treats us by looking at where and who we are. It is at times conditional. I would hope to learn to be sure and contended with who i already am, because I have the glory and honor from Him.
