Nanjing Part 2
The whole trip in Nanjing was very pack. Most of the time I only spent 5 hours a day sleeping. However, it was an enjoyable trip. Have to thank my professor for giving me this chance.
Met the company for the trip on board. Mr. Aletter who sits next to me is as old as daddy. He is a friendly humble man. We reached Peking and then transitted to Nanjing. Mr. Wang from Phoenix Contact greeted us at the airport. It is an advantage to speak in Mandarin. We reached the hotel and took our lunch at the hotel with Mr. Hengsbach. We paid Phoenix Contact Nanjing after lunch. Had the opportunity to meet Prof. Li Mu Song, the director for Phoenix Contact Nanjing. We went back to the hotel at about 4pm for a short break. This is the only day in the whole trip that I had time to really take a bath or a shower. We walked to a restaurant not too far away from the hotel. I helped to order the dinner. We had a good meal and the company was happy with the dinner. After the dinner we took a walk back to the hotel and spent some time at the Phoenix Monument. Following that, we met up with Dr. Du for a mooncake festival "drink". Business meetup is perhaps not my stregth. I did not really know what to say so I spent most of my time listening. One thing for sure I was very determined not to take any alchohol. Would not want the people to be shock at my red face and body while I am falling asleep!

The next day (26th September 2006) starts at 7am. Took a shower and had breakfast at the hotel buffet. One nice thing I had for breakfast was the cow's stomach! The dim sum breakfast was not what I hoped for but I had chance to eat porridge with vegetables and mantou. I skipped the tea egg as it's a little messy for me. Plan for the day was to visit Nanjing. We visited a new "Yue Jiang Lou". The concept is based of the other four original pagoda where the emperor could enjoy the scenic view of Yang Tze river. We spent our morning there. The light scent of fragrance from "Gui Hua" can be smelled along the whole garden. I spent another two hours after the social mooncake festival event learning my terms in the room. Went to bed at about 2am.
Next we had lunch in a restaurant (Wanqinglou ??). Miss Chu ordered set dish for us. Each set dish consists of many small dishes for tasting purposes. It was adventorous and interesting. We get to try all sorts of Nanjing specialities within that one hour. However, I did not take any photos as I was not sure it was appropriate. I would definitely do this again. I think it cost about 100RMB for each set plus with appetizers and drinks. After the lunch we went shopping at the street next to the restaurant. It was fun seeing the other participants bargain with the shopkeepers. Mr. Hengsbach is very good in this sport. One funny thing was the shopkeeper asked me to bring more tourists and I can receive commission from them! Looks like I can still pass as a local... ha..ha..
We visited Confucious temple . There are many different halls and gardens to be visited in the location. The weaving room was interesting. Amazes me how the lady remembers what colour should go at which row! A few pieces of work for Ming's dynasties robe was on display. Our last stop is a garden from Ming dynasty time. The garden is almost 600 years old! It is certainly to have such a garden in the middle of the town!
We got back at the hotel around 5pm and have to quickly prepare for the official dinner to officiate the opening of Q-Conference.
