Work

yeah, work... but still, might be interesting at times, right?

Web Project coming to a close...

After working for a few months on this web project, I think we are finally bringing it to a close.  Had a chance to learn more about PHP through this project and got to know my project manager (my husband) better. SianLun took this project to keep me occupied before I got a job. Did not have much time to work on it after I started working in the University. In fact I do not have much time to do anything else after being employed in the University... sigh... I can understand SianLerk's busyness well.

A company offered us a very good price for the system, but we would need to make it modular enough to be easily customised. I do not think we are going to take the offer not only because we are limited in skills and resources but also because we ( or at least I ) do not agree with the content of the business.

on the right path?

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

in the middle of my work and busyness, suddenly this thought appeared in my mind:

"how do i know whether i am on the right path in things i am doing now?"

i have no best answer. But i have this answer:

by walking it.

well deserved break

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

inspired by my remaining annual leaves, i  decided to write the following:

we are born to be working machine, whether you want it or not. You might not be a workaholic, but you can push yourself to the max if you want/need to. I am impressed with our endurance: you never know your limit until you push it.

that's perhaps why some of us get the chance to experience burn-outs :) you pushed yourself long enough until a day where you body and soul say "neeeehhh, no more pleeeeaaassssss", and mogok[1]. It is not a nice thing, especially when you still have piles of documents or codes to be finished up! but what to do? when body say stop, even if the spirit is willing, you just cannot budge it anymore. time to take a break.

little things this week

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

it is a pretty busy week. quite some things to catch up, and still always feel i would need to get more sleep...

1. One day less - Monday was still a public holiday. so officially the week started only on Tuesday. Looking at the things we have to do - Easter Monday Perki service, Tuesday evening concert with Dresden's Gospel-Night choir, work work work and 1 CSI episode only this week... it is kind of a sign that i need break. btw, CSI episodes can be used to measure how much free time one has :) the more episodes you manage to catch in a week, shows you have the extra time to spend ;)

<br> error using css

Can't believe it. I spend almost 4 hours trying to find out why my display is not the way it should be. I was trying out the 3 flexible columns with a footer from http://www.pmob.co.uk and incoporating it with my current css.

I was testing out on two browsers. IE and Firefox. The display is fine in IE but I have some problem with Firefox. My center content would have height as high as the left column content. After debugging line by line I realised that I have br{ clear: left; } defined in my styesheet. Gosh.. this one line cause me so much time. Well one good news is at least it is solved and I can now move on with the rest of the work.
