Fun stuffs, everyone needs some!

UK Trip 2009 - Part 1 - Edinburgh

Upon arrival at Edinburgh Airport, it gave us a rather familiar feeling - you see English everywhere. :) Ok, not exactly... the Scots speak with their own slang. Scottish sounded even more foreign than anything, there we were grateful to be able to use English.

UK Trip 2009 - Prelude

Planning trips was always rather difficult for us. It is usually hard to find time - either if we are tied up with work, or pre-booked by different activities, or we don't find anywhere as interesting as sleeping at home. So the trips we had since a few years ago are usually decided rather late. But at least we had some :)

Nanjing (3)

Nanjing Part 3
After the official dinner we left for the factory to make sure that our slides and presentations would turn out well on the screen. We took a walk back to the hotel after the preparation and I went directly to my room to continue learning my terms. Slept at about 2 am. It was slightly more difficult to wake up the next morning. My presentation is in the afternoon. It was an advantage as I would have enough time to be "immersed" in the terms, slangs and intonations. The presentation went smoothly. The best part was the participants told me that they can understand my presentation without any problem. Very soon it is time to leave the factory for the hotel and again within less than an hour we need to be ready for the evening program.

SzeChuan's change mask show
The evening program was really enjoyable. They prepared acrobatics acts, magic show, fashion show, traditional sze-chuan "mask changing show" and it ended with the classical "Peng You" song. We participated as volunteers in the magic and acrobatic shows and was rewarded with all sorts of soft toys. The evening was spent chatting in the lobby till 11:30pm and again I continued the evening with terms memorization for tomorrow's presentation.

Time flies and it is soon Friday. Today I would present my last presentation. The food here in the canteen with the food tray reminds me of home. Company food tray but with home cook food. I would miss the food here. The past few days had been nice getting to know new people and listening to different business talks (yeah still listening cause I got nothing much to talk). Miss Chu gave us a guided factory tour after lunch and then it was the gift presentation ceremony for "Explore" competition.

Nanjing (2)

Nanjing Part 2

The whole trip in Nanjing was very pack. Most of the time I only spent 5 hours a day sleeping. However, it was an enjoyable trip. Have to thank my professor for giving me this chance.

The company Hotel's Garden Nice bathroom

Met the company for the trip on board. Mr. Aletter who sits next to me is as old as daddy. He is a friendly humble man. We reached Peking and then transitted to Nanjing. Mr. Wang from Phoenix Contact greeted us at the airport. It is an advantage to speak in Mandarin. We reached the hotel and took our lunch at the hotel with Mr. Hengsbach. We paid Phoenix Contact Nanjing after lunch. Had the opportunity to meet Prof. Li Mu Song, the director for Phoenix Contact Nanjing. We went back to the hotel at about 4pm for a short break. This is the only day in the whole trip that I had time to really take a bath or a shower. We walked to a restaurant not too far away from the hotel. I helped to order the dinner. We had a good meal and the company was happy with the dinner. After the dinner we took a walk back to the hotel and spent some time at the Phoenix Monument. Following that, we met up with Dr. Du for a mooncake festival "drink". Business meetup is perhaps not my stregth. I did not really know what to say so I spent most of my time listening. One thing for sure I was very determined not to take any alchohol. Would not want the people to be shock at my red face and body while I am falling asleep!

A suitable heart rate monitor for you and me

Have you seen or used a heart rate monitor before? It is a device that keeps track of your heart rate, while you do your work out. Actually you can use it anytime you like, though the most common use takes place during exercises. With heart rate monitoring, you will be able control or adjust your exercise load in order to achieve expected results, better.
