Inspired by michelle's prawn mee photo I cooked prawn mee this weeken... ok actually started cooking the soup from Thursday... I started with the prawn shells, then on Friday took the shells out and put the pork rib and pork bones and finally on Friday night the chicken bones. Well, why over so many days - because I got the ingredients one by one and I got no time on Friday morning to clean the chicken!. Today I made the chilli paste and put the whole thing together and tomorrow gonna eat the prawn mee... ha..ha..

what binds Malaysian together?
Submitted by tzeying on Wed, 2008-02-27 23:17
8th of March would be election day for Malaysia. I am not able to perform my duty as a citizen as I would not be in the country during the election. Inspite of the many "crap" that happens in the country....(yup I so wanted to put up the collected crap - but I have no guts cause afraid that this family blog would come under the authorities attention), I still love dear Malaysia. Hey, where else can I call "Tanah tumpah darahku" (the place where my blood was shed)?

Nanjing (3)

Nanjing Part 3
After the official dinner we left for the factory to make sure that our slides and presentations would turn out well on the screen. We took a walk back to the hotel after the preparation and I went directly to my room to continue learning my terms. Slept at about 2 am. It was slightly more difficult to wake up the next morning. My presentation is in the afternoon. It was an advantage as I would have enough time to be "immersed" in the terms, slangs and intonations. The presentation went smoothly. The best part was the participants told me that they can understand my presentation without any problem. Very soon it is time to leave the factory for the hotel and again within less than an hour we need to be ready for the evening program.

The evening program was really enjoyable. They prepared acrobatics acts, magic show, fashion show, traditional sze-chuan "mask changing show" and it ended with the classical "Peng You" song. We participated as volunteers in the magic and acrobatic shows and was rewarded with all sorts of soft toys. The evening was spent chatting in the lobby till 11:30pm and again I continued the evening with terms memorization for tomorrow's presentation.
Time flies and it is soon Friday. Today I would present my last presentation. The food here in the canteen with the food tray reminds me of home. Company food tray but with home cook food. I would miss the food here. The past few days had been nice getting to know new people and listening to different business talks (yeah still listening cause I got nothing much to talk). Miss Chu gave us a guided factory tour after lunch and then it was the gift presentation ceremony for "Explore" competition.

Nanjing Part 2
The whole trip in Nanjing was very pack. Most of the time I only spent 5 hours a day sleeping. However, it was an enjoyable trip. Have to thank my professor for giving me this chance.
Met the company for the trip on board. Mr. Aletter who sits next to me is as old as daddy. He is a friendly humble man. We reached Peking and then transitted to Nanjing. Mr. Wang from Phoenix Contact greeted us at the airport. It is an advantage to speak in Mandarin. We reached the hotel and took our lunch at the hotel with Mr. Hengsbach. We paid Phoenix Contact Nanjing after lunch. Had the opportunity to meet Prof. Li Mu Song, the director for Phoenix Contact Nanjing. We went back to the hotel at about 4pm for a short break. This is the only day in the whole trip that I had time to really take a bath or a shower. We walked to a restaurant not too far away from the hotel. I helped to order the dinner. We had a good meal and the company was happy with the dinner. After the dinner we took a walk back to the hotel and spent some time at the Phoenix Monument. Following that, we met up with Dr. Du for a mooncake festival "drink". Business meetup is perhaps not my stregth. I did not really know what to say so I spent most of my time listening. One thing for sure I was very determined not to take any alchohol. Would not want the people to be shock at my red face and body while I am falling asleep!

Drunken prawns for us :)
Submitted by sianlun on Mon, 2007-10-01 16:16
last week i did something crazy - i bought quite a lot of prawns - to be precize, perhaps around 150 middle size prawns. Of course they are frozen and can be consumed for quite some time as long as they reside in our freezer obidiently. But one thing i would like to try with it - drunken prawn soup :) so the search for recipe started and we were ready to try things out.

christmas market in Kassel
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->
exactly after i mentioned that i might pass the yearly Christmas market (German = Weihnachtsmarkt) in Kassel this year, we actually made it to have a drink and dinner this wednesday. It was because TzeYing's colleague invited us over for a nice special Christmas desert, so we got to get something to eat in between. So it gave us enough excuse to pop by at the town center, and grab something from the Weihnachtsmarkt.
the place is as crowded as every year, and we just picked a place where we can get something nice to munch. People are also there to either eat or drink the Mull wine (german = Glühwein) with friends. It is actually nice, to be able to get something warm during near winter time. It was now daily around 0-5 degrees, i think. So a nice warm cup of Glühwein will certainly keep you and i warm ;)
